Your Gut! Immunity Begins and Ends Here
This month we are talking about allergies and immunity, as the two go hand in hand. When with think of immunity, we often go to the downstream area, such as the bronchioles if we have a chest cold, or the sinus’ for a sinus infection.
All too often, ground zero for our immune system is overlooked- our gut. It is estimated that over 80% of our immune system is linked to the gut. This is where natural antibiotics and other immune supporting enzymes and natural body chemicals are created. When we are looking to support our gut, thus our immune system, here at Optimum Wellness Pharmacy we recommend beginning with a quality probiotic. Our favorite is Ortho Molecular Orthobiotic, which provides 6 different strains and 20 billion CFU’s plus saccharomyces boulardii for building a healthy and diverse gut flora. Orthobiotic plus, D-Hist for allergies, is the perfect one-two punch for allergy and immune support this season

Our Favorite Food Group to Support Your Immune System
If you have been following along with us lately, you have seen that we have been talking about how to keep your immune system strong, not only for allergy season, but all year long.
Let’s talk about food.
The first step is removing immune impairing foods, such as refined sugars, artificial colorings, flavorings, and sweeteners, as well as industrial fats and hormone and antibiotic laden meats and proteins.
Ok, we have that covered.
Next step…begin to incorporate fermented foods into your diet. Fermented foods are a natural staple in most indigenous diets, although our Western Industrialized diet is often void.
Next time you go shopping, look for fermented foods to incorporate into your diet, or better yet, make your own; such as Sauerkraut, kimchi, Kombucha and kefir.
